People who are interested in skiing and snowboarding might find it unbelievable that they can practice their favorite sports, even in the heat of the summer. Many people believe in the “never summer” motto because the snowboard season from October to April is simply not long enough. People who want to travel the world can go to the southern hemisphere during the summer and ski in places like Australia, New Zealand, and South America. However, there are also several places in North America that have great snowboarding through the middle of summer. Here is a list of the top resorts for summer snowboarding.

Oregon’s Timberline Lodge

Timberline Lodge is famous for having the longest operating chairlift and ski season in North America. They are dedicated to operating throughout the summer because they can’t offer chairlifts in the winter. The mountain gets too much snow and has dangerous conditions throughout the winter. The ski season in Timberline Lodge lasts from June-September and allows people to ski on a glacier. They are able to snowboard on the south face of Mt. Hood while also touring around the Olympic caliber slopes. The resort provides grooming on several runs in the Palmer Snowfield which is often used for summer camps. They provide public lanes above the treeline for any level skier and snowboarder.

British Columbia’s Whistler Backcomb

Many people love taking the Gondola at the Blackcomb glacier. The Blackcomb Mountain’s Horstman Glacier provides incredible views and is a popular summer snowboarding destination between June and July. There are beautiful runs for summer ski camps that also have public access for advanced skiers. The terrain park also has a lot of options for people who want to learn tricks!

Mammoth Mountain in California

California skiers and snowboarders are familiar with Mammoth with stays open through the 4th of July. They often get storms in the summer allowing them to have a base of more than 15 feet of snow. Mammoth also has other outdoor sports activities during the summer like mountain biking and golf. They tend to shift into summer sports after Memorial Day to make the trails more accessible. They have incredible terrain parks that are available throughout the summer.
